Should you hire a Content Creator for your Wedding?

Weddings have totally evolved—gone are the days when you just waited weeks for a photo album. Now, couples want real-time vibes, TikToks, and Insta Stories from their big day, and that’s where wedding content creators come in. Think of them as your personal social media manager, capturing all the candid, behind-the-scenes moments that your photographer might miss. But is it actually worth adding one to your vendor list?

A wedding content creator is basically your go-to for unfiltered, on-the-go footage. They’re snapping vertical videos, hyping up your TikTok transitions, and making sure your day is well-documented for the group chat and your feed. If you love the idea of getting aesthetic Reels and clips you can post literally the next day, this is your person.

The biggest flex? You get content immediately. No waiting weeks for your highlight video—your content creator can drop a mini recap by the end of the night. It’s a lifesaver if you're planning to share your day online or want to send something to guests who couldn’t make it. Plus, your besties can stay off their phones and live in the moment, since someone else is handling the social side.

That being said not all content creators are the same.. or even content creators at all. This is a relatively new position in the Wedding Industry and there are still a lot things to be ironed out within the vendor dynamic with Content Creators. Taping dances or before’s and afters etc. for Tik Tok can take time and take away from genuine moments or prevent them from happening all together. If someone hasn’t worked weddings before at all it can also impede on Videographers and Photographers who are trying to work with precious moments. If a person is coming in with an iPad and iPhone with a separate agenda and documenting style it can create strain on your vendor team.

My best piece of advice when it come to this is if you are team pro Content Creator, hire someone who has specifically worked weddings or even better who is a Wedding Photographer themselves like Curated by Seamless out of Boston MA. They know how weddings work, they know how vendor teams move and they will be able to work harmoniously with them. Make sure to not designate your friend who is good with an iPhone!

That being said if your vibe is more lowkey or you're having an unplugged ceremony, this might not be your thing. Some couples just want to keep the day private, and that’s totally fair. Also, be real with your budget—a content creator is another line item, so if you’re already spending big on a pro photo/video team, you’ll want to make sure this is something you’ll actually use.

Bottom line: if social media is part of your love language and you want to relive the day through raw, real clips, a wedding content creator is a solid move. Just make sure their style matches yours and that they know how to keep the energy fun, not intrusive.
